TorrentX Rules

TorrentX was started to fill an apparent void where it seemed there was a lack of quality conscience ad free torrent sites. We strive to maintain a community atmosphere with a helpful staff who quickly verify all uploaded content and uploaders.

We have always maintained a stance of "Sharing is caring" and firmly believe in helping to maintain a safe environment for our users and to help deliver content free from spam and ads. We still maintain a community atmosphere and the heart of that can be found in our chat room.

Universal Rules - For All Torrents

Images

IMGUR DOES NOT WORK ON THE TORRENT INDEX PLEASE DO NOT USE IT

In some sections the requirement of a screenshot is mandatory, in others it is appreciated but not required. We have a white list of preferred image hosts. You do not have to use this but if you are planning on using one not on the list, it must comply with the following conditions:

  • The image hosting site must not be on the banned list
  • No money making image hosts allowed
  • Any image host where you have to click a link to view the image is banned
  • Any image host that pops up ads is banned
  • Host ads should be no more than 5 (not strictly enforced if responsible)
  • No ads serving malware - will be added to ban list immediately

Advertising & File Names

TorrentX is a file-sharing site. We do not support any schemes for uploaders to try and make money.

Banned

  • Video watermarking (ads/site URLs in video)
  • Audio watermarking (ads/site URLs in audio)
  • URLs in folder & file names (Trial Uploader)
  • URLs in torrent descriptions (Trial Uploader)
  • URLs in torrent titles (All classes)
  • Banner ads in torrent descriptions
  • ANY links to 3rd party sites (except text file in torrent)
  • Links to gambling, direct download, or unrelated sites
  • Link shorteners / spam / surveys
  • 18+ & First On Net tags
  • Emojis in torrent titles (unless VIP rank)

Allowed

  • Encoder names/sites that appear briefly at file start (don't abuse)
  • Hard-coded subtitles (mark as HC or HARDCODED)
  • A text file inside your torrent with 3rd party site link

3rd Party Site Links

Trial uploaders are no longer allowed to link to any 3rd party site in folder names or torrent descriptions. The exception is sites like IMDB, TVDB, goodreads and similar sites used for file information.

You are allowed to include a text file inside your torrent with a link to your site. If you include a text file to a 3rd party site, that site MUST comply with:

  • No excessive ads
  • Strictly no ads serving malware (one chance only)
  • Site MUST offer .torrent files (not just direct download/file-locker links)
  • Exceptions: Server/seedbox/VPN providers, subtitle sites, IMDB/TVDB
  • Site MUST be related to file-sharing or file information
  • You MUST tell staff if you plan to include a text file link

ANY TRIAL UPLOADER THAT BREAKS THESE CONDITIONS LOSES ALL LINKING PRIVILEGES - All torrents will be deleted and you may or may not be allowed to continue to upload with no links. There are no second chances.

🎬 Movies

  • Minimum of one visible screenshot in your description for every movie upload
  • Screenshots must be from the video you are uploading
  • Using the same screenshot for different resolutions/codecs is not appropriate
  • Cover/Title posters are appreciated but do not count as a screenshot
  • Must not contain any zip, rar or other file archive formats
  • Subject to all universal rules above

📺 TV, Anime & Documentary

  • Screenshots are not required but appreciated
  • Must not contain zip, rar or other file archive formats
  • Subject to all universal rules above
  • If you need to use rar/zip for special reasons, get staff permission

🎵 Music

  • Screenshots are not required but appreciated
  • Must not contain zip, rar or other file archive formats
  • Subject to all universal rules above
  • If you need to use rar/zip for special reasons, get staff permission

📦 Other Section

  • Must have a description - not just offsite links
  • Rar/zips are sometimes needed (e.g. plugins) - get staff permission first
  • Screenshots are welcome but not mandatory
  • Don't make this section more spammy than it already is

🎮 Applications & Games

  • Must prove you are trusted elsewhere (another torrent site, release blogs, etc.)
  • Must demonstrate knowledge to check software for malware
  • Use Virus Total and Hybrid Analysis to check files
  • Use Virtualbox or VMware for checking bigger files
  • Staff will randomly check files of uploaders at all levels
  • Infected files = demotion and/or ban
  • 95% of software uploader applications are refused

🔞 XXX

  • Minimum of one visible screenshot in your description
  • Screenshots must be from the video you are uploading
  • Must not contain zip, rar or other file archive formats
  • Use our preferred XXX image hosts (more forgiving on image host rules)
  • Must comply with universal rules above

Application Form Submission

After reading all the rules above, fill out the uploader application form. We will try to process applications as quickly as possible. To ensure there is no delay, please answer these questions:

1. What do you plan to upload?

2. Are you uploading original self-created .torrent files or are you dumping already-made .torrent files?

3. Are you part of a group or team that already uploads here?

4. Do you upload on any other site? (if so include profile links)

5. Have you read all rules, including section-specific ones, and do you agree to follow them?

6. Do you plan to include links to a 3rd party site and if so what site?

7. Does your chosen section/content require an image host? (if so what one will you use)

If You Are Denied

It could be for a number of reasons. Staff might deny you if they feel they require more information. If this happens, you may come to the chat room and discuss the denial with staff. This will normally involve a brief interview. Do not whisper or private message staff. Please talk in open chat.

If You Are Accepted

You will be subject to all rules on this page. You must only upload in the sections you requested. Any major deviations must be pre-approved by staff. You will have 48hrs from being accepted to upload your first torrent. Accounts dormant for months or years might be demoted for security.

Safe Torrenting Tips

Scan files before opening — Malware hides in ZIP, RAR, and EXE files. Always scan with antivirus software before extracting.

Use a VPN — A good torrenting VPN hides your IP from ISPs and other seeders, protecting you from tracking and cyber threats.

Stick to verified torrents — Choose torrents from trusted uploaders with good comments and high seed counts.

Check file extensions — A real movie or music torrent will be MP4, MKV, or MP3. EXE, SCR, or BAT files in a video torrent are malware.

Use a secure torrent client — qBittorrent, Deluge, and Transmission are safe and don't bundle adware.

Enable encryption — Most torrent clients offer encryption settings to help obscure traffic.

Block ads and trackers — Use uBlock Origin to block malicious pop-ups on torrent sites.

TorrentX is a highly moderated torrent site. If you are here to try and upload spam, get rich quick schemes, infected files or anything else deemed "bad", you will just waste your time. We have been doing this for a long time and even if you manage to get past staff and be able to upload, we will find out and can delete all your work with a single click.
